The COMET Competence Centers for Excellent Technologies program promotes the establishment of competence centers whose core is a high-level research program defined jointly by industry and science. This is intended to provide new research impetus, lead to increased technology transfer and strengthen the innovative capacity of companies.
The aim is to generate new product, process and service innovations. In this sense, COMET represents a significant factor in strengthening Austria as a research and business location.
The COMET program is funded by the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and the Federal Ministry for Labour and Economy (BMAW). It is managed by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency.
